A one track mind!

I have an idea for a new series, a one track mind, no it’s not what you’re thinking! It’s that one track that means the world to you and the reasons it means so much to you.
For me, you might have guessed it Mike and the Mechanics, the living years.

Why, I was nineteen and my chosen career path had fallen apart and I think, looking back I had anger issues, my temper would flare over the stupidest things, and to be clear I regret so much of that phase of my life, but I heard this track and it bought me to my senses. It made me realise what people meant to me, especially my mother and father.

Now I’m  45 and my father died in 2012 shortly before the London Olympics, and this song means so much more to me than ever before. It never fails to make my mind wonder to memories of my father

“I wish I could have told him, in the living years”

An iconic lyric, it was this line that stopped me in my tracks and made me realise so much now how lucky I was and how lucky I was to hear that track at that time.

The combination of the great lyrics along with Mike Rutherfords guitar hit me at a time I needed it to, I’m not actually sure when this track came out but it is my offering for one track mind.

Having lost my Dad as i explained back in 2012 this song never fails to take me back to the good memories of my dad, it makes me smile and sad all at the same time. Thank you Paul Carrack for such excellent lyrics.
